Congress Venue
Okura Hotel Amsterdam
The Okura Hotel Amsterdam will host the exhibition and lectures of BIBM2023.
Hotel Okura Amsterdam was officially opened on the 24th of September 1971 by His Royal Highness Prince Claus of the Netherlands. This remarkable event occurred after the prestigious Japanese hotel Chain had chosen Amsterdam for their first location abroad in their international expansion. The hotel was the first European hotel of the Okura hotel chain. It is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and was lat renovated in 2019.
The congress venue / hotel is located in the district De Pijp. It is located directly south of Amsterdam’s city centre and it is part of the borough Amsterdam-Zuid, in a part of the city known as the Old South (Old Zuid).
Hotel Okura was designed by Dutch architects Bernard Bijvoet and Gerard Holt and Japanese architects Yoshiro Taniguchi and Yozo Shibata. Upon its completion/opening, Hotel Okura Amsterdam was the second tallest building in Amsterdam; only Tower Overhoeks in Amsterdam-Noord was even higher.
The Art of OKURA is a way of sharing the traditions, authenticity and craftsmanship. The whole concept reflects the spirit of “omotenashi” – the art of japanese hospitality. Learn more about the Art of OKURA and the OKURA’s philosophy.
